Count down until the Full Moon Party

Ignoring that I'm 36, have the alcohol tolerance to drink two light beers or one glass of wine (thanks to Australia and NZ's astronomically high prices and Indonesia and Thailand's lack of selection), and don't like to be around a lot of people- yes, ignoring all of that- we are going to the Full Moon Party in one week!  Once there, up to 30,000 people will gather on Haad Rin beach in Koh Phangan and party together under the full moon.  It's hard to believe that this happens every month.

We had decided to go a long time ago and then I booked a room in walking distance to the beach when it started to look like we would have friends arriving in Thailand around the same time.  And thankfully- it's worked out perfectly- our friend is flying in on the 21st and wants to go!

Cherrie- a fireball of energy, dance and laughter will be joining us.  The party kicks off her month of vacation in Thailand.  No doubt she'll be leading the tango line long after Nate and I are sound asleep.  I can't wait to see her.

Here we are several years ago before the Samba Parade at North Country Fair.

And at Roz and Dave's wedding last July.

In researching the beaches in Southern Thailand- Koh Phangan is well known for it's beautiful beaches and turquoise water.

Here are a few pictures of what it's desolate, beautiful beaches look like:

And here's what it looks like at the Full Moon Party!

Wish us luck! (Just in case- I've already found out about "Mellow Mountain"- the relaxed mountain-side bar where you can watch the party from afar...)
